We are seeking a multi-skilled, and innovative Visual Arts Specialist Teacher who is flexible and willing to work collaboratively with staff, as well as connect with the school community to achieve the best outcomes for all students to commence 01 January 2023.  The successful applicant will ideally have the skills to collaborate effectively within these teams to create innovative learning opportunities for our students and be a highly reflective teacher with a growth mindset and desire for continuous improvement.

About our School:

Mary’s Mount Primary School is a single stream co-educational Primary School positioned in the Hills of Perth and only 30 minutes from the Perth CBD.  Mary’s Mount was opened in 1921 by the Sisters of St Joseph of the Apparition.  The school caters for children from Three Year Old Kindergarten to Year Six and has a strong relationship with the local parish and its community.  We have a cohesive, dedicated and professional team of staff and a welcoming and inclusive school community.

Selection Criteria:

We are seeking a suitably qualified teacher who has the necessary knowledge, skills, ability and professional desire to:

  • Display strong understanding of the Western Australian Arts Curriculum to plan, teach, and assess challenging and engaging programs, promoting active and differentiated learning.
  • Coordinate and develop an innovative Visual Arts program across Kindergarten to Year 6 to excite and inspire students.
  • Display an ability to teach skills and techniques in a variety of media: ceramics, painting, sculpture, drawing, printmaking, textiles, and digital art.
  • Use assessment data to evaluate the effectiveness of teaching programs, set targets, to inform your planning in Visual Arts for students across the school.
  • Promote the Arts within and outside of the school. It is desirable for the applicant to have a successful background in organising and coordinating Visual Arts school exhibitions.
  • Form strong links with community groups by engaging with external artists to develop the school’s Arts program.
  • Provide extra-curricular activities to enhance learning opportunities for students will be highly regarded.
  • Engage and collaborate with the other specialist teams to support the integration of the Visual Arts program with the other arts programs in the school including dance, drama and music.
  • Contribute to our high-quality professional learning community through continuous self-reflection, engaging with current research, data analysis, and performance development practices.
  • Develop and nurture respectful relationships with students, staff and families of the school.
  • Consistently demonstrate excellent interpersonal and organisational skills.
  • Use technology as a powerful tool for teaching and learning.
  • Be a proactive contributor within our community – willingness to share ideas, time and expertise for the good of all.
  • Be an active and positive promotor of the school’s ‘Sustainability’ Program, including all class and whole-school initiatives.
  • Seek to see joy in their work on a daily basis and should have high expectations of themselves and students.

Qualifications Required:

The successful applicant must:

  1. Be four year tertiary qualified.
  2. Be registered with the Teacher Registration Board of WA to be eligible for appointment.
  3. Accreditation to Teach Religious Education is desired but not a requirement.
  4. Supply Copy of Working with Child Card, Copy of TRBWA, Copy of Academic Statement.
  5. Be supportive of the ethos and objectives of Catholic Education
