Our School Community
The partnership between parents and staff at Mary’s Mount Primary School is crucial to the effectiveness of our student’s learning. Together we work to create the very best learning environment for our children. There are many ways that parents and families can contribute to the life of our school and we believe parental involvement is an imperative part of our school to help sustain community building.
In the Classroom
Parents and their families are invited to help out in their child’s classroom in a number of ways. Listening to children read, attending excursions and as parent helpers. Families are invited and encouraged to actively engage in learning opportunities with their children.
At Home
Families are encouraged to take an active role in their child’s learning and by discussing this at home and making links with various family activities and experiences it is a great way to encourage thinking and learning as a part of everyday life.
Staff Leadership Team
The staff at Mary’s Mount is made up of 28 teaching and support staff. There is a good balance between staff with many years of experience and those new to teaching. Staff retention is high and there is a strong emphasis on personal development and leadership at our school. The leadership team consists of the Principal and two Assistant Principals.
P&F
The MMPS Parents and Friends (P&F) is made up of a Chair, Vice Chair, Treasurer, Secretary and members. As well as initiating and supporting social and fundraising initiatives, the P&F organises events for the children including Twilight In The Park, Colour Run, an Annual Disco and Mother’s Day and Father’s Day events.
School Advisory Council
The School Advisory Council (SAC) actively supports the principal, staff and community. The School Advisory Council meets monthly to share information and prepare or ratify policies that impact on the school community.
Parish
Mary’s Mount Primary School has a strong relationship with our local parish – Holy Family Parish, Kalamunda. Mass is held regularly with the students and classes participate in regular prayer services and community masses. Our school Sacramental program is parish based and strongly supported by the school. Fr Anand is a regular guest at our school and visitor to our classes.
